What are your opinions on the democratic health care plans? I personally don't know much about it, I hope to learn soon though. Educate me! =P

well for one i am SOOOO happy that a republican is taking Ted Kennedy's place, because it is now harder for the health care reform to take act.

Yea, same! =D I think that's awesome. Although I don't understand /why/ it makes it harder for them.

It makes it harder for them because Scott Bown wasn't elected because he was a Republican. Scott Brown was electged because he told the people of Massachusetts that he was going to go and stop Health Care. People want Congress to stop (Read the polls!) and that sent a very CLEAR message.

Plus, that brings the Democrats down from a 60-person super majority. I dunno what that means, but thats what ive heard. Razz

Oh okay, thanks. lol I think what that means is all the electoral votes were pretty much put towards the republicans. Which...I don't know what that means xD

Oh, my goodness, zac and Volvox, thank goodness Sen. Brown was elected!

Kit, he's important to healthcare because he is against the Senate bill. By losing the Massachusetts seat to Brown, the Democrats have lost their super-majority in the Senate. Now, "super-majority" sounds like a slang term, but it actually means that one political party has enough votes in the Senate to overturn a filibuster (which is tactic employed to delay passage of a bill and allow for more discussion). What this means is that the Dems can no longer use their 'hurry-up' tactics with the healthcare bill. Which, believe me, was the only way they were going to get it passed!

For one thing, in the House version of the bill (there are five versions, I believe), it becomes mandatory that you have health insurance. If you refuse, you can go to jail! For another, Pres. Obama has promised over and over that "you'll be able to keep your own insurance, if you like it", yet the Senate version states that if you change your employment, you must change your insurance to the government-provided type... funded by us. I do mean us; our grandkids will be paying for this more-than-$1,000,000,000 bill.

Worst of all, this would mean the government taking over one-fifth of our private economy! That alone ought to make lawmakers revolt against this junk!

Ooooooh, okay, but how'd he take away a super-majority just by one seat?
Yea, what a /bad/ idea. =/

The super-majority is sixty votes. The dems had sixty; now they've got fifty-nine. Of course, there are always moderates who may vote with them, but you get the idea.

Yes he was Walter.

I am a Republican and all against the health care bill as well. If the doctors do not get paid as well, then people will not want to become doctors and then there will be a shortage of doctors, thus hurting the patients. Then the general medical profession will go down, since people will not respect doctors, nurses, and all medical people as much.

I don't think it will pass. This has gotten the Senators and Reps in trouble with their states/districts. And I mean serious hot water.
For example, Sen. Reid is likely to lose his election this year, making Nevada the first state in almost fifty years to throw out a sitting majority leader. Another good instance is the people electing Sen. Brown in a massively blue state.
To put it simply, people are, if I may use a bit of hill-billy slang, hoppin' mad. Healthcare, whichever version you're reading has a direct effect on the economy, on doctors and on middle-class families... for the worse. Americans won't stand for the bill, however much Congress and the Pres. may want to pass it. And with good reason.

Okay, that's good then. How exactly would it affect the middle-class though?

Here's the loop.

Everyone is Forced to get government Health care. The government pays for their health care. The government needs money to pay for health care. The government taxes people for health care. The Rich are rich enough that they can either avoid the taxes or can pay them without caring. The poor are poor enough that they don't have to pay taxes. The middle class (your family and mine) are the only ones who actually feel the blow. We are poor enough that the taxes taken are noticed by us, and rich enough that they (the government) don't care that we are getting a blow.

I think that the people are already unsatisfied with Obama and the Democrats. If the health care bill passes, then people will not be happy. Scott Brown's election in Massachusetts, which was reported to be a solidly Democrat state, proves that people were not happy with the Democrats. Thus, because of the growing public unsettlement and how people feel about the Democrats, I believe the health care bill will not be passed.

I am a conservative too. The stuff Obama and the Democrats are supporting or letting get by is not good.

For example:

-Democrats support abortion, which is the murder of unborn children.

-Taxpayers $$$ for abortion. Democrats want to see that part of people's money that they pay for the good of the government goes to the killing of unborn babies.

"A person's a person, no matter how small."

-HEALTH CARE! People should see what follows when the health care bill is passed. Most people are in the middle class (working class!), and they will get the brunt of the blow that health care strikes. If there is no middle class, then who will do all the work? How will the rich people buy anything and everything they want?

Okay, there's a video on YouTube that explains it much better than any of us, because it uses humor and facts. You can watch it at

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIV4TwYMyDQ&feature=player_embedded

It's really good, clean and funny, but sad at the same time, because people really won't get the care they need if Healthdon'tcare passes
